“You’ve Got a friend in me” - Toy Story

Paul & Cade, best friends, started volunteering at the University of Redlands, CA in 2015. They would go after school to the Sustainable University of Redlands Farm to work in the Redlands Family Services plot - dedicated to growing food for the disadvantaged in the community. As word spread that these two amazing young men who have special needs were contributing to the greater good of their community, others were inspired to join them. Eventually, a partnership was forged between the University of Redlands, Arrowhead Christian Academy, and Redlands Christian School Special Education Programs. Alternating weekly between the Middle School and High School, the special education students participated in a bi-weekly gardening program with undergraduate students of the University for two years. It was this emergent opportunity that serves as the model for Urban Earth Care Farm today.
